With over 70 years of engineering heritage and a growing commercial base across AR displays and optical interconnects, the company is focused on enabling the next generation of computing through photonic technologies.

We spoke with Phil Greenhalgh, Chief Technology Officer at Plessey, about the company’s technology, progress, and vision for the industry.

The MicroLED Industry Association published its 2026 MicroLED Industry Roadmap and State-of-the-Industry document

The 2026 MicroLED Roadmap covers the latest microLED technology trends, details the MicroLED Association’s roadmap and projections for the future of the microLED industry and market, by application segments. For the first time, the roadmap includes microLED-based optical I/O. The summary edition can be downloaded here.

The MicroLED Association to Host Pavilion and Annual Dinner at SID DisplayWeek 2026

The MicroLED Industry Association is excited to announce its activities for SID DisplayWeek 2026, taking place this May in Los Angeles, California. This year marks an important step forward for our community: in addition to our traditional Annual MicroLED Association Dinner, we will for the first time host a dedicated MicroLED Association Pavilion on the exhibition floor.

The Pavilion will feature six of our leading member companies—ADEIA, CEA-Leti, ETRI, Polar Light, QustomDot, and WEVE—each showcasing their latest innovations and technologies advancing the microLED industry. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of new solutions spanning materials, processes, equipment, and system integration, all driving the next generation of display performance.

Teradyne and Hongshi join the MicroLED Industry Association

The MicroLED Industry Association (MIA) welcomes its newest member companies - Teradyne and Hongshi Intelligent Technology. The MIA aims to accelerate the adoption of microLED display technologies, bringing together companies, researchers and organizations active in the MicroLED industry and providing an ideal forum for solving common technology issues, fostering cooperation and sharing relevant information, resources and tools.

Teradyne designs, develops, and manufactures automated test equipment and advanced robotics systems. Its test solutions for semiconductors, photonics and electronics products enable Teradyne’s customers to consistently deliver on their quality standards. Its advanced robotics business includes collaborative robots and mobile robots that support manufacturing and warehouse operations for companies of all sizes. The company is leveraging its expertise to help the microLED industry meet the challenges and throughput requirements for testing of microLED microarrays, including microdisplays, with fast, accurate and flexible production-ready solutions.

Raysolve and ETRI join the MicroLED Industry Association

The MicroLED Industry Association (MIA) welcomes its newest member companies - Raysolve Optoelectronics and ETRI. The MIA aims to accelerate the adoption of microLED display technologies, bringing together companies, researchers and organizations active in the MicroLED industry and providing an ideal forum for solving common technology issues, fostering cooperation and sharing relevant information, resources and tools.

Raysolve Optoelectronics (Suzhou) is committed to developing and manufacturing high-performance full-color Micro-LED micro-displays, targeting emerging display technologies, particularly for AR glasses. The core team stemmed from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) with decades of experience in the design and manufacturing of cutting-edge microchips. Raysolve’s proprietary QDs-based full-color technology enables full-color display on a single chip, while also setting a new world record for both its tiny size and high pixel density, achieving a revolutionary breakthrough.

MicroLED Association Webinar: Exploring MicroLED Optical Interconnects with Avicena and CEA-Leti

The MicroLED Industry Association (MIA) is pleased to announce its upcoming webinar, dedicated to MicroLED-based optical data interconnects.

In this session, we will host leading microLED optical interconnect developer Avicena, and MIA member CEA-Leti. We will discuss microLED solutions for optical interconnects, used for AI datacenters. We’ll talk about the current status of technology, why microLEDs are promising in this application, and more.

Calling out to speakers for MicroLED-Connect 2026

MicroLED-Connect, now in its 3rd year, is set to take place on September 16-17, 2026, in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The event is a joint-collaboration between the MicroLED Industry Association and Techblick, and in 2026 it will be co-located with the highly synergetic AR/VR-Connect conference. Attendees can look forward to engaging activities such as tours, masterclasses, an exhibition, networking opportunities and events, and more.

Following a very successful event in 2025, we are planning MicroLED-ARVR-Connect 2026 to be an even better event, with an expanded agenda, exhibition and networking opportunities. We are calling-out to potential speakers - companies, research institutes, start-ups, analysts, and academics are all welcome to propose a talk. We encourage contributions from round the world. In general, we prefer talks which represent state-of-the-art technologies or real commercial and industrial impact.

Polar Light Technologies (PLT) is a Swedish semiconductor company developing a new generation of MicroLED displays based on a unique pyramid-shaped GaN structure. We spoke with Oskar Fajerson, CEO of Polar Light Technologies, about their approach, progress, and vision for the industry.

Can you introduce your company and technology?

Polar Light Technologies was founded with a clear ambition: to make microLED monolithic color display. Our proprietary technology is based on a pyramid-shaped GaN structure. This structure has several benefits that allows us to build a monolithic color display using microLEDs that can be less than 1 µm.
