AUO to deepen its collaboration with faytech and accelerate deployment of transparent microLED displays

AUO and faytech Tech has signed an MOU, to deepen their long-term business partnership centered on transparent microLED displays. The MOU formalizes cooperation across product development, integration, manufacturing, and go-to-market activities. AUO says that this new agreement will accelerate deployment of transparent microLED displays in commercial and industrial applications.

Under the agreement, AUO and faytech will collaborate on joint development projects that leverage AUO’s leading microLED display technologies and faytech’s global expertise in designing, manufacturing and servicing touch monitors, touch PCs and optical bonding. The partnership aims to deliver turn-key transparent display solutions that combine high optical performance with robust touch, bonding and system integration tailored for retail, transportation, hospitality, smart buildings and other high-traffic environments.

AUO and Corning show a dual-sided 17.3" transparent microLED display

A few weeks ago, during SID Displayweek 2026, AUO and Corning have teamed up to demonstrate a 17.3" 1280x720​ dual-sided transparent microLED display. This display shows a different image from each side, while still offering a transmittance of over 35%.

Corning updates that this panel utilizes two optically advanced fusion-formed glass substrates with customized transmittance and anti-reflective coating, to enable high visual clarity and stability.​ In total, the display has four advanced glass substrate, as it includes two cover glass panels as well.

Tianma shows its latest transparent and automotive microLED display prototypes at SID Displayweek 2026

Tianma is showing two new microLED display prototypes at SID Displayweek 2026. The first the company's first automotive tiled transparent display, a 19" 60% transparency prototype. The display uses three ultra-narrow-border panels joined with high-accuracy tiling to create a continuous viewing surface without visible seams.

The second display is a 12" microLED IRIS HUD, a that features a full-color microLED display designed for head-up display applications requiring extreme brightness and compact integration. Tianma says that with peak brightness exceeding 120,000 nits, the display maintains clear readability even under strong direct sunlight. The whole display engine is only 2 mm thick, and the thermal components are directly bonded to the TFT glass - thus supporting efficient heat dissipation and stable operation at ultra-high brightness. The design incorporates a fully transparent front-window optical structure without a black masking layer, preserving the driver’s field of view and enabling new HUD form factors.

AUO shows new microLED display prototypes at Touch Taiwan 2026

AUO is showing several exciting microLED prototype displays at Touch Taiwan, including some new technologies. We share some initial information here, and hopefully soon we'll be able to share more.

First up are some transparent microLED displays. AUO is showing two such displays, one a 54-inch signage display applied to a dessert display case, and the second is a 42-inch Multilingual AI Ordering System that integrates cross-language communication with the ordering process at frontline touchpoints.

Napster and fatech show an AI Kiosk powered by AUO's transparent microLED display

Napster has unveiled a new Napster Station product, an AI Kiosk, powered by a transparent microLED display, produced by AUO. It's not clear whether this is just a concept, or whether Napster actually aims to commercialize this soon.

The kiosk was developed by China-based faytech Tech, an interactive display solution developer. The main idea is that this kiosk can transform concierge service and commerce, with use cases in retail, hospitality, transportation, healthcare and more. Users can engage with a library of domain-specific AI Companions through real-time video interactions, moving beyond traditional text chat and democratizing access to expertise for users worldwide.

BOE demonstrates new automotive microLED technologies at CES 2026

BOE has unveiled a new microLED-powered automotive heads-up display, that achieves an ultra-high brightness of 300,000 nits. BOE says that the new Panoramic HUD (PHUD) device utilizes AI for intelligent voice and gesture control, achieving a complex command recognition rate of up to 98%.

BOE also demonstrated a touch enabled transparent microLED display on a wood grain substrate, as you can see above, for automotive applications.

Innolux to showcase new microLED displays at CES 2026

Innolux will be showcasing its latest microLED display technologies at CES 2026. It released some initial information, which we detail below, hopefully next week we will be able to share more.

First up, Innolux is showing a new transparent microLED display, that it calls a MicroLED Display Window. Innolux did not share any technical details, but it says that the display offers high clarity, high transmittance, high brightness, and high resolution.
