Porotech announced a strategic partnership with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (PSMC), to bring Porotech's microLED displays top market.
The two companies did not disclose much, but Porotech says that this collaboration is an important step forward toward mass production of its microLED microdisplays.
In April 2022, Porotech demonstrated 1920x1080 monochrome microdisplays, that achieved over 2 million nits of brightness. The company said that that it was the first to demonstrate all three-color light emitting elements made from a single material and toolchain. Those display included Porotech's native red InGaN display at 614-625nm wavelength.
In 2021, Porotech announced a partnership with JBD for the supply of porous gallium nitride (GaN) epiwafers. In February 2022 Porotech raised $20 million in its Series A financing round. In May 2022 the company announced its DynamicPixelTuning technology. In December 2023 the company announced a partnership with Foxconn to develop microLED microdisplays.
