ALLOS Semiconductors, based in Dresden, Germany, and established in 2014, is a supplier of GaN‑on‑silicon microLED epiwafers.
ALLOS provides specialized materials for two areas of rapidly growing strategic importance: microLED displays, especially microdisplays, and microLED-based optical interconnects for AI computing. The company's materials are fully silicon fab-compatible and are available in both 200 mm and 300 mm wafer diameters. This enables microLED device manufacturing
In 2017 ALLOS and Veeco demonstrated 200mm GaN-on-Si wafers for micro-LED production. In 2020 ALLOS sold its high-power electronics and RF business to AZUR SPACE to focus its business on the microLED market. In November 2022 we posted a spotlight article on ALLOS Semiconductors.

A glimpse into MicroLED Connect 2026: microLEDs take on the AI data center interconnect bottleneck
MicroLED Connect 2026 is set to be the industry's premier event for microLED and next-generation display technologies, taking place on 16-17 September 2026 at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, with a world-class agenda, exhibition and networking opportunities. The event spans three co-located tracks - MicroLED, AR/VR and Optical I/O - covering everything from microLED manufacturing and displays to AR/VR optics and optical interconnects for AI infrastructure.
Here we will introduce some of the speakers and themes from the Optical I/O track, a unique forum bringing together the display, semiconductor and AI industries to address one of the defining challenges of the AI era: the interconnect bottleneck. Germany launches a collaborative project to develop and manufacture GaN-on-Silicon microLED microdisplays
The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has launched a new collaborative initiative to develop microLED microdisplays for AR applications.

The microPRO project, as it is known, includes ALLOS Semiconductors, Fraunhofer IPMS, Jabil Optics, Mimetik, Maintastic, and SUSS MicroTec.
ALLOS announces a strategic partnership with Ennostar to bring 200 mm GaN-on-Si microLED wafers into volume production
ALLOS Semiconductors announced a strategic partnership with Ennostar Corporation, to bring bring 200 mm GaN-on-Si microLED epiwafers into volume production.

This partnership will enable ALLOS to offer its customers GaN-on-Si epiwafers at mass volume. This basically means that Ennostar has become ALLOS manufacturing partner, while ALLOS operates in a "fabless" model. In addition to manufacturing, Ennostar will also contribute its advanced LED-related technologies to further enhance the product performance.

MicroLED-Connect is the microLED industry's top event series, offering a combination of exciting online webinars and a flagship annual on-site event. Our next meeting is on 23-25 September 2025, at the High Tech Campus, Eindhoven, Netherlands. MicroLED-Connect is co-organised by TechBlick and the MicroLED Industry Association and offers the best way to connect with the global MicroLED and AR/VR display industries and markets.

On September 24-26, the inaugural MicroLED-Connect event took place in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. It was an extremely successful event with attendees, speakers and exhibitors from all over the world there to discuss the latest microLED innovations and updates. It is clear that there's much interest and driving force behind the microLED industry.
MicroLED-Connect hosted over 40 speakers and 8 masterclasses, providing a wealth of information by leading display makers and supply chain companies, researchers, material makers, market analysts, investors, application developers, and more. The agenda included speakers from Google, Meta, TCL CSoT, KAUST, JCDecaux, CEA/Leti, GlobalFoundries, Aixtron, Continental, Applied Materials, imec.Xpand, VueReal, ALLOS and many more.
You can now access all of the event recordings (and proceedings), in addition to recordings and presentations from past microLED-Connect virtual events. MicroLED-Connect offers yearly passes to access all of the content, in addition to online access to events during the year.

TCL launches a commercial 163" MicroLED TV, the X11H Max, priced at $110,000
Chinese TV producer TCL announced its first commercial microLED TV, the 163-inch 4K TV X11H Max. The TV offers an XDR peak brightness of 10,000 nits, 22bit+ color depth, extremely fast response speed (nanosecond level) and a lifetime of over 100,000 hours. The price is set at 799,999 Yuan, or around $110,000.
This is obviously an ultra-premium product, but it is great to see TCL formally enter the microLED market. TCL first demonstrated a prototype 163" microLED panels back in 2023. It is likely that this new tiled TV features an Oxide-TFT (IGZO) backplane.
Guest spotlight: TechBlick’s Khasha Ghaffarzadeh shares his views on the upcoming MicroLED Connect event
MicroLED Connect is a global forum for microLED and related technologies and applications, which will take place at the Convention Center on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven on 25-26 September. The MicroLED Connect is organized by two industry veterans, Metalgrass’ Ron Mertens and TechBlick’s Khasha Ghaffarzadeh, each bringing his unique knowledge and experience to plan this extraordinary event.
We had a few questions to ask Khasha Ghaffarzadeh, our co-organizer, about his vision for this conference.
Q. Hi Kasha! We'd love to hear your thoughts on the MicroLED Connect event - what did you have in mind when planning it and what’s special about it?
Hi! Well, it is the first worldwide onsite conference and exhibition dedicated to MicroLED technology. Up until now, MicroLEDs were highlighted in other display events, but never as the main technology in a dedicated conference. We felt that this emerging technology deserves to be the main focus. The event will bring together the entire value chain from around the world- from material suppliers to equipment makers to display makers and semiconductor companies and final OEMs. There is enormous interest in this technology and in our event, and so we expect a sell-out crowd.
When planning this event, we put extra emphasis on social events and networking opportunities. We have a rich agenda that transcends the usual talks and lectures, and includes social gatherings, organized visits to companies in the area and more. We wish to give attendees the chance to not only listen and learn, but also interact and connect. We put a strong focus on in-person experience, hoping to forge deep partnerships amongst our participants. That’s actually where the name “MicroLED Connect” comes from!
