Pyramidical GaN microLED developer Polar Light Technologies announced that it has successfully closed a fully subscribed funding round $3.4 million, from both existing and new investors.
Polar Light says that thanks to these new funds, it now plans to bring its microLED technology to market in 2026. The company also plans to complete a larger financing round in 2026 to support full-scale market entry.
Polar Light's technology is used to produce microLEDs using a non-etching bottom-up approach using a patterned mask. Towards the end of 2024, the company announced that it has managed to produce red (625 nm) microLEDs, and has thus managed to produce based on its non-etching bottom-up platform. The company now has demonstrated the production of red, green and blue pyramidal microLEDs using the same material compound.
