Polar Light demonstrates 500 nm and smaller microLED devices

Pyramidical GaN microLED developer Polar Light Technologies announced that it has produced a series of nano-scale InGaN LEDs, measuring 500 nanometers and smaller. The company says these are the smallest LEDs ever demonstrated.

The microLED devices have been produced using the company' monolithic bottom-up mask-based process, that has been now demonstrated to scale to significantly smaller dimensions without compromising performance or efficiency.

Earlier this month Polar Light announced that it has successfully closed a new financing round, raising over 5 million Euros, thus raising a total of 13 million Euros to date.

In May 2025, Polar Light Technologies demonstrated its first microLED microdisplay prototype. In December 2025, we posted a spotlight article on the company.
