Peugeot shows a new concept car with several microLED displays

Peugeot has unveiled a new concept car, called the Polygon Concept car, that showcases several new technologies - including several microLED displays.

First of all, behind the innovative new Hypersquare steering wheel, Peugeot placed a transparent microLED display embedded within the windshield. This display is 24x74cm, or similar to a 31-inch display. Interestingly, the display is visible also from outside the car, which enables animations to be displayed to outside viewers when the car is stationary.

The second and third microLED displays are placed on the front and rear end of the car. Each of these is made made from several different microLED panels, that can animate the front and back of the car.

The final microLED display is placed on the C pillar (the back of the car), providing a display dedicated to the charging experience, next to the cable connector. This screen allows users to check the vehicle’s charge level without entering the car.

The automotive market is a key market for many microLED developers. In 2026, the Sony Honda AFEELA 1 is expected to be the first commercial car to launch with a microLED display (produced by AUO). Tianma has also started to commercialy produce automotive microLED displays - albeit at low volume.
