Mojo Vision and Marvell reveal joint project to develop microLED-based optical interconnect solutions

MicroLED microdisplay developer Mojo Vision, a MicroLED Industry Association member, announced that it has signed a long-term collaboration agreement with Marvell Technology, to develop a new class of microLED based optical interconnect solutions to power high-performance AI data center infrastructure.

Mojo Vision actually signed this agreement a year ago, but only now reported it. Marvell, which was the lead investor in Mojo Vision’s $75 million Series B Prime financing round, brings to this collaboration its connectivity technology portfolio. The solution that the two companies develop will support a variety of AI data center interconnect form factors and applications for hyperscale and cloud data center customers.

Mojo Vision developed the world's highest density displays and smallest microLED devices - up to 28,000 PPI using sub-micron LEDs. In 2024, Mojo Vision announced that it has developed a full-color microdisplay prototype. In September 2024, Mojo Vision teamed up with CY Vision to develop next-gen automotive HUDs based on microLED light engines.

Mojo Vision started as a smart contact lens developer, that raised over $200 million to develop its technologies, including the microLED technologies its solution required. In 2023, the company laid of most of its employees, decelerated the contact lens development and focused almost entirely on its microLED technologies. The company successfully pivoted to microdisplay technologies and raised over $100 million since.
