MicroLED Connect 2026, the premier industry event dedicated to microLED technologies, will bring together leading companies, researchers, and innovators from across the display and semiconductor ecosystems for a focused program of talks, networking, and technology insights.

As part of this year’s event, which will take place on 16-17 September at Eindhoven's High tech Campus, a dedicated full-day “Optical I/O Connect” session will highlight one of the most important emerging directions in the field.
Driven by the rapid growth of AI, high-performance computing, and data-intensive applications, Optical I/O has become a major R&D focus across the semiconductor industry. The shift toward optical interconnects - both at the chip-to-chip level and across datacenter infrastructure - is accelerating, and MicroLED technologies are increasingly being explored as a key enabling platform thanks to their high speed, brightness, and energy efficiency.
The Optical I/O Connect session will bring together leading experts from industry and academia to explore how MicroLED-based (and laser-based) optical communication is evolving from research into real-world deployment.
Confirmed speakers include:
- CEA-Leti: “MicroLEDs for Optical Connectivity – A New Platform for the Data Era”
- Avicena Tech: “Leveraging MicroLEDs for High-Speed Optical Interconnects in AI Datacenters and Chip-to-Chip Comms”
- University of California, Santa Barbara: “Development of GaN-Based MicroLED Devices for Full-Color Displays and High-Speed Optical Communication”
- Tyndall National Institute, University College Cork: “A Micro-LED Architecture for Enhanced Emission Directionality in Displays and Optical Interconnects”
Additional speakers are invited to join this dedicated session. Submissions are encouraged from professionals working on MicroLED-based optical communication, Optical I/O architectures, integrated photonics, and related technologies.
This is an opportunity to present alongside leading experts and engage with a highly focused audience shaping the future of microLED and optical connectivity.
