Dubai-based XPANCEO has raised $250 million, at a $1.35 billion valuation, in a round led by Opportunity Venture.
XPANCEO develops a smart lens platform, powered by a microLED microdisplay. The company does not develop its own microLED display, and has developed several prototype solutions based on different display types.
In 2024, the company announced a partnership with JBD to develop integrated microLED displays for XPANCEO's smart contact lens platform. The two companies are working on two different approaches, one uses a project and hologram combination and another in which the microdisplays projects the image directly from inside the lens, using a custom collimation system.
