JBD today introduces its latest product, the Roadrunner II - a 2.5 micron pixel-pitch SVGA (800x600) 0.18 cc full color microLED projector. Based on the Roadrunner II, JBD also introduced a monocular full-color AR glasses development kit.
The Roadrunner II product is based on 0.1" 480hz 10,160 PPI microdisplays.
JBD says that at a 30-degree field of view, Roadrunner II achieves an angular resolution of 33.3 PPD. Its center-field modulation transfer function (MTF) reaches 0.4 at 200 lp/mm. Roadrunner II delivers a substantially increased luminous flux of 6 lumens. When paired with a 30-degree FOV diffractive optical waveguide, it can achieve in-eye brightness of up to 6,000 nits. Roadrunner II's typical power consumption is 98 mW.
The Roadrunner I projector was introduced in December 2026 (so half a year ago). It is based on the same microLED panels, but JBD increased the light output from 3.2 lumens to 6 lumens, while increasing the power consumption by only 10%.
