ARVR-Connect 2025 is set to be an exciting event with a world-class agenda, exhibition and networking opportunities. Co-located with MicroLED-Connect 2025, it will focus on the image light path of AR devices - display engines (OLEDs, MicroLEDs, LCoS, lasers) and optics and waveguides.
In this article we will introduce some of our speakers and themes at the event. You can explore the full agenda and event details here.
AR system design and headsets
The first theme we will discuss is the design of AR headsets, the system and mainly the integration of displays and optics. We will hear from several AR device makers and technologies suppliers, and here we mention a sample four of these talks.
C-REAL, developers of lightfield displays for the AR industry, will discuss how AR glasses must continue to provide the traditional glasses function – that is to correct and support human vision. This means delivering accurate prescription correction, natural image depth, and high optical clarity. The talk will show the benefits of CREAL’s ultra-fast sequential light field displays based on Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal on Silicon Spatial Light Modulator, paired with a Holographic Optical Element combiner.
Vizon Tech, a deep-tech startup developing AR solutions, will detail the company’s exploration of different optical paths including birdbaths, waveguides, prisms and more, coupled with both OLED microdisplays and LCDs, as it finetuned its next-generation AR headset design that achieves full-color images, high FOV, low-cost design and more.
Aegis Rider, who designs AR headsets for riders, will give a talk that details its high-performance AR helmets, and the components it chose to design its solution.
Finally, Karl Guttag, a respected AR engineer and analyst, is going to give a talk to discuss the common optics and display technologies used in AR systems (mainly MicroLEDs, Micro-OLEDs, LCOS, DLP, and LBS), and highlight some of the key issues with the more common combinations of display and optics.
Meta-optics and Micro-Optics
In AR systems, generating the light in the display engine is only half of the story – the optics are just as important. In recent years, the field of micro-optics and meta-optics have garnered a lot of attention as AR design requires extremely high performance.
At ARVR-Connect, the Bühler Group will discuss the role of Optical Coatings and Trimming Innovations for AR solutions. Unique coatings and treatments can enhance the performance of light engines, waveguides, lenses, and displays.
Eindhoven-based SCIL Nanoimprint Solutions, who develops nanoimprinting technology based systems, will detail its nanoimprint technology that enables ultra-low distortions in the integration of wafer-level MicroLED in AR displays.
Finally, NanoScribe will discuss high-refractive index transparent resin materials and how these are used for the additive-manufactured 3D micro-optics, used in AR and VR applications.
