India-based Kaynes Semicon's CEO, Raghu Panicker, says that the company is looking to launch a new business focused on GaN fabrication, and microLEDs display production.
Kaynew Semicon is an OSAT company (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) and has recently began production at its first facility. It seems as it the company is looking to advancing in the value chain, and provide its own GaN and microLED production facilities.
Raghu says that while it only just started looking into a possible GaN fab, it is at a more mature stage with microLEDs, and is looking for a partner for a joint-venture. Specifically, they are looking for an Asian partner, outside of China.
Kaynew Semicon's first facility was established with almost $400 million in support from India's Semiconductor Mission (ISM).
