Established in 2001, Hong-Kong based HKC is a display developer and producer. The company currently manufactures LCDs with four 8.6-Gen production lines in China. The company is the third largest producer of LCD TV panels.
HKC has a miniLED/microLED R&D center and production line in Miangyang, China, and is actively developing direct-view LED based displays.
In 2024, the company unveiled its first microLED display prototype, produced on an Oxide TFT backplane.

HKC launches the world's first RGB miniLED backlit LCD monitor
As we reported last week, China-based display and device maker HKC announced that next year it will ship the world's first RGB mini-LED backlit monitor, the M10 Ultra. This will be a 31.4-inch 4K panel, that will have 4,788 dimming zones (so a total of 14364 miniLED chips).
HKC says that the M10 Ultra will offer a 165 Hz refresh rate (or 330Hz at FHD resolution) and a wide color gamut, 100% BT.2020, sRGB, DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB. The company did not release the expected price of its new monitor, or any exact shipping dates.
HKC to soon launch a mini-LED RGB backlit LCD monitor
Chinese display maker HKC announced that it is set to launch a new LCD monitor panel, that is backlit by RGB mini-LEDs. The company promises that this new monitor will offer superior on-screen color reproduction, compared to white-backlighted LCDs, or blue-QD LCDs.
In the past few months, we have seen Samsung announce the first RGB MicroLED TV, and we expect Sony and LG Electronics to follow suit. HKC is looking at a different market segment, and is utilizing mini-LEDs. Samsung's solution (and likely LG's and Sony's too) is extremely expensive, it will be interesting to see how HKC prices its RGB mini-LED LCD monitor.
HKC launches new Mianyang direct-view LED fab, eyes microLED expansion in 2026
Chinese display maker HKC announced that its new direct-view LED fab in Mianyang is starting operation. The company says that this is a significant milestone for the company and its long-term strategy in the large-area display industry sector.
It is our understanding that currently the new fab will produce LED direct view displays that utilize miniLEDs, but in the future it will also produce microLEDs. In fact, HKC announced that "in the face of the rapid growth of the global MicroLED technology market" it will expand the microLED capacity in 2026. In the long-term its main application targets for its direct-view LED displays are commercial screens, home theaters, and automotive displays.

HKC unveiled its first microLED display prototype, a 6.67" 100 PPI (roughly 580 × 325) panel that offers 1,000 nits of brightness, and a 99% DCI-P3 color gamut.
HKC's display is produced on the company's high mobility oxide (HMO) backplane. The company says that its HMO material offers an electron mobility that is 20 to 50 times higher than that of amorphous Silicon (a-Si).
