Counterpoint (DSCC) released its latest display equipment spending forecast, for OLEDs, LCDs and MicroLEDs. The total spending in the period 2020-2027 will be $77 billion. Most of the spending will be focused on OLED equipment from 2025 to 2027.
Not surprisingly, Counterpoint does not see any meaningful spending on microLED equipment throughout their forecast period - apart from a small investment in 2023-2024, which could be spending by Apple's partners in the cancelled microLED watch project.
Some companies are more optimistic - for example Aixtron believes that it will receive large tool orders in 2026 as some of its customers are aiming to ramp up products in 2027.
