Counterpoint does not expect any meaningful microLED equipment spending at least until 2028

Counterpoint (DSCC) released its latest display equipment spending forecast, for OLEDs, LCDs and MicroLEDs. The total spending in the period 2020-2027 will be $77 billion. Most of the spending will be focused on OLED equipment from 2025 to 2027.

Not surprisingly, Counterpoint does not see any meaningful spending on microLED equipment throughout their forecast period - apart from a small investment in 2023-2024, which could be spending by Apple's partners in the cancelled microLED watch project

Some companies are more optimistic - for example Aixtron believes that it will receive large tool orders in 2026 as some of its customers are aiming to ramp up products in 2027.
