AUO shows new microLED display prototypes at Touch Taiwan 2026

AUO is showing several exciting microLED prototype displays at Touch Taiwan, including some new technologies. We share some initial information here, and hopefully soon we'll be able to share more.

First up are some transparent microLED displays. AUO is showing two such displays, one a 54-inch signage display applied to a dessert display case, and the second is a 42-inch Multilingual AI Ordering System that integrates cross-language communication with the ordering process at frontline touchpoints.

AUO is also showing an installation which they call the Micro LED Crystal Forest which is a five-meter-tall stage constructed with multi-layer transparent microLED modules , based on 1.25 mm pitch display solutions from AUO’s subsidiary, Yenrich Technology, together with a scalable tiled array design.

Beyond these 54-inch and 42-inch microLEDs, AUO showcases a 64-inch Sports AR Solution that overlays real-time game data and interactive content to enhance immersion and engagement, and a smaller 30-inch Interactive AR Box to elevate the presentation of high-end merchandise. Most of these microLED transparent displays have been shown before.

For the first time, AUO is showing 16.1-inch dual-sided transparent microLED displays, for subway train doors, that presents different information simultaneously inside and outside the train.

In addition to these transparent displays, AUO is also showing a fully rollable microLED display for automotive applications. AUO says that the displays features an ultra-thin form factor, high brightness, wide color gamut, high contrast, and low reflectivity. We do not have exact display specifications yet.
