PanelSemi launches a flexible 55-inch miniLED direct-view display

Taiwan-based panel semiconductor provider PanelSemi Corporation launched the world's first flexible active-matrix Mini-LED display at CES.

The display, called Primary, is a 55-inch HD resolution (1.2 mm pitch) miniLED direct-emission that is highly flexible, light (1 Kg for the whole display) and thin (1 mm thickness). It can be flexed to a concave, convex, s-curve, cylinder, and rollable shapes and four displays can easily be joined to create a 110-inch display. PanelSemi says that Primary is highly efficiency, and 4 hours of use can be driven by a single 10 K-mAh power bank.

Vuzix launches the microLED-powered Shield AR glasses

Vuzix unveiled the Shield Smart Glasses for enterprise use, which are based on microLED microdisplays. The Shield is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR1 and features Vuzix' propriety waveguide optics.

The Shield was actually revealed before, referred to as Vuzix Next Generation Smart Glasses (NGSG). The company did not give any details on pricing and availability. Vuzix is using JBD's 0.13" microLED microdisplays.

Seoul Viosys unveils a new microLED microPixel technology called WICOP

LED developer Seoul Viosys announced a new technology called WICOP mp, that combines the company's no-wire, no-package WICOP tech with microLEDs to create so-called micro Pixels.

The company says that its WICOP technology makes it possible to populate brand-new semiconductor chips into a general manufacturing process directly without modification. Seoul Viosys says that using WICOP mc microPixels enables higher efficiency (as there's no efficiency degradation) and high density displays (up to 2000 PPI)

Samsung unveils 91-inch and 101-inch microLED TVs

Samsung Electronics introduced two new MicroLED TVs sized 101-inch and 91-inch. Samsung's 2022 MicroLED TV range will include the 91-, 101- and 110-inch microLED TVs (the 110-inch already started shipping in 2021).

Samsung planned to introduce even smaller microLED TVs, but high prices delayed these plans. The 2022 microLED range features 20-bit contrast processing, 100% DCI-P3 and Adobe-RGB color gamut, up to four HDMI inputs and Dolby sound.
