LG launches a new 136" 4K microLED MAGNIT TV in the US

LG Electronics launched a new microLED TV in the US, the LG MAGNIT 4K 136-inch 2000-nits 120Hz Micro LED residential display (LSAD Series). This residential TV is a "luxury residential display' that is powered by LG's latest Alpha 9 AI-enhanced processor and the company's own webOS smart TV platform.

LG says that the new MicroLED display is available in the US through specially-certified LG distribution partners.

C SEED announces new premium foldable outdoor microLED TV, the HLR series

In 2021, Austria-based C SEED released a high-end microLED TV, the $400,000 165" 4K C SEED M1, which has a unique foldable design, which makes use of seven large MicroLED panels.

C SEED now announced a new outdoor foldable MicroLED TV, called the HLR series. The displays (both based on seven panesl) offer a brightness of 4,000 nits and a resolution of 4K. There are two models, a 144" one which costs $298,000 and a 201" one that costs $590,000.

JBD developed a commercial 500,000 nits red microLED emitter, says it shipped over 1 million microdisplays to date

China-based MicroLED microdisplay developer Jade Bird Display announced that it has developed a new red microLED emitter, that offers up to 500,000 nits of brightness at 2 micron sizes. JBD is now able to mass produce this new red microLED, and offers it in its 0.13" VGA monochrome red microdisplay.

JBD also updates that it has shipped over 1 million microLED microdisplays to date, which as an extremely impressive number.

Samsung starts selling its 110-inch microLED TV in China, and already sold out the first batch

Samsung launched its 110-inch microLED TV back in 2021, with a price tag of around $150,000. Earlier this week Samsung started to offer it in China for 1.05 million Yuan, online at JD.com, and today it is reported that the company sold out its first batch of TVs.

It is not clear how many units did Samsung actually ship - and the web site still accepts reservations.

JBD is building a $92 million microLED microdisplay fab in Hefei, China

China-based MicroLED microdisplay developer Jade Bird Display is building a 650 million Yuan ($92 million USD) display production line in Hefei, China. The construction of the building is already at a final stage.

It is estimated that JBD will be able to annually produce around 120 million panels in this fab. The company's current main product is a 0.13" VGA panel, so it is likely that JBD is referring to 120 million 0.13" panels.

Korea launches a $14.8 million project to support the local microLED industry

The Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is funding a new five-year project that aims to develop microLED display technologies in Korea, to support research at small and medium-sized enterprises and providing services for the industry such as consulting, patent development, and product commercialization strategy programs.

There are four participating organizations in the new project: Electronic Display Industrial Research Association of Korea, Korea Photonics Technology Institute, Korea Electronics Technology Institute, and Korea Automotive Technology Institute. The total project's budget is 18.3 billion Won ($14.8 million USD).

Here are AUO's latest microLED display prototypes

AU Optronics have been showing new microLED display prototypes, and the following video from Insight Media shows the company's booth and new displays at SID Displayweek 2022.

You can see AUO's stretchable 141 PPI display (a very interesting demo, developed together with PlayNitride), the rollable 14.6" 2K (202 PPI) LTPS microLED display, AUO's 1.4" circular 454x454 (326 PPI) microLED another stretchable microLED, this one 6.45" in size with a 900x450 resolution (163 PPI), and finally AUO's 17.3" 2000-nits 1280x720 transparent (60% transparency) microLED prototype.

AU Optronics to unveil new microLED display prototypes

AU Optronics announced that it will showcase new MicroLED display prototypes next week at Touch Taiwan 2022.

AUO will show a rollable 14.6" microLED display, that offers a 2K resolution (202 PPI) with a 40 mm rolling radius. The company will also show a 17.3" 2000-nits 1280x720 transparent (60% transparency) microLED prototype. In 2021 the company demonstrated a smaller transparent display, which was even brighter at 3,000 nits.
